I am not sure what’s going on, but our heating bill is double what it was last week; The temperature is basically the same here that it was last week, too, so it’s pretty unusual that the heating bill is so much higher… Sure, it’s the middle of Winter and the temperature outside has been pretty chilly lately, however but the temperature control inside our beach house has been set at the same temperature since late fall; I never mess around with the settings on the temperature control component in our house.
That’s because I learn an Heating, Ventilation & A/C blog last year that said you save more currency by leaving your temperature control settings at a single temperature than by increasing it all the time.
That didn’t make much sense to myself and others at the time, but then when I stopped turning our heating an A/C off and on all the time, our heating and cooling bills dropped dramatically. That’s why when the heating bill doubled all of a sudden, I knew that there had to be an issue with the Heating, Ventilation & A/C system that I wasn’t aware of. I called up the local heating and cooling corporation here in neighborhood and they sent a team out to do some diagnostic testing on our furnace and ventilation system. Sure enough, I had some breaks in our air ducts and apparently that can absolutely mess up your oil furnace! The Heating, Ventilation & A/C serviceman fixed the ventilation ducts for myself and others and assured myself and others that the heating bills won’t be nearly as high next week. I absolutely hope he’s right because I don’t have that kind of currency to spend every week!
